Many people are raving enthusiastically about the Polaris RZR; it is easier to handle than many ATVs (UTVs) and Polaris claims its design makes it very stable and safe. The Polaris Ranger RZR is a side by side ATV with the capability of going 55 miles per hour. The Polaris RZR was first released in 2007 and since than some manufacturing flaws have come to light, necessitating a recall in one incidence.
Is Something Wrong with the Polaris RZR?
A manufacturing defect in the fuel tank caused Polaris to recall 330 of its newly released 2008 Polaris Ranger RZR 800 EFI Utility Vehicles in late 2007. The leaking tank posed a fire hazard. The manufacturer voluntarily recalled all of the defective vehicles.
The RZR also has had problems with the air filter allowing dirt into the engine. This could cause the vehicle to stall.
People who have added lift kits to their RZRs have reported a number of axle breaks after using the vehicle for only a short time. This does not seem to be a problem with RZRs which have not been modified.
What about Problems that can Lead to Rollovers?
The Polaris Ranger RZR (Razor) has been on the market since 2007.
A lower center of gravity than other ATVS marks the RZR; this makes the vehicle more stable and less prone to tip-overs and rollovers. As an additional safety measure the RZR has as deeper compartment for the feet than most models do and it has nets to prevent your legs from coming out of the vehicle in case of rollover.
Despite these advantages all ATVs are inherently prone to tip-overs and rollovers. The statistics on Polaris RZR vehicles are not yet available.

Polaris RZR Stability
The low center of gravity may make the Polaris RZR safer just as it manufacturer claims; however, no ATV is immune to accidents. As ATVs and UTVS have become more popular, accidents involving them have increased. One safety problem is the fact that very young and/or inexperienced riders are driving ATVs. Over 400 ATV-related deaths were reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2004.
Some basic safety rules can help prevent a tragic ATV/UTV accident:
• Adult ATVS are truly designed to be driven only by adults; no one under 16 should drive them.
• Wear an approved safety helmet with facial protection or goggles every time you ride an ATV; no exceptions.
• Knowledge is power and safety; every ATV driver should take an ATV safety course before trying to drive the vehicle.
• Remember, ATVs are off-road vehicles; they are not designed to be driven on the pavement.
