Named 12 times as one of the country’s best rehabilitation hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Baylor has specialized rehabilitation teams for brain and spinal cord injured patients. The Traumatic Brain Injury Program has been designated a Model System by NIDRR, and is a cooperative effort between Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation, Baylor University Medical Center, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. This program also allows patients to enroll in research which may improve the future outcomes of people who have sustained traumatic brain injury. The Spinal Cord Injury Program provides an interdisciplinary team including board-certified physiatrists, nurses, licensed physical and occupational therapists, recreation therapists, social workers, psychologists, and care coordinators. Services include spinal cord education classes, counseling on sexuality, day and evening outings, patient and family member education, peer support groups, aquatic therapy, adaptive driving, and help with assistive devices. Sierra Providence Physical Rehabilitation Center

With the goal of helping each and every patient return to maximum independence, each individualized program includes diagnostic testing, case evaluation, progress evaluations, advanced technology, and education and training for both patients and family members. The center provides rehabilitation for people of all ages—from childhood through adult—and all levels and stages of injury. Bilingual services are available. For patients who are ready to go home but still need therapy, the Lomaland Center provides outpatient services. HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center

Those who have suffered from stroke have access to specially trained staff at HealthSouth’s Stroke Rehabilitation Center of Excellence. HealthSouth hospitals that receive this designation have exceeded benchmarks in clinical programming and patient outcomes for the treatment of stroke. HealthSouth is also known for using some of the most advanced rehabilitation technology for both brain and spinal cord injury patients.
